It’s time for August’s thankful post! Shared in order of when they happened, the following are the things I’m thankful for this month.
- The Nigerian Blog Awards has a new logo which will be revealed when the site is up and running in a week or so but I’m very thankful for my talented colleague who helped me bring the vision to life. I also owe a debt of gratitude to my software designer friend Ves who worked some major magic behind the scenes for the Awards website. If any of you have a talent I really encourage you to share it…there are people like me who wish we had half of your skill!
- I’m also thankful that my father was able to celebrate another year of life earlier this month. We’ve had to be creative in how we celebrate these events since he lives six hours away from us but if all goes well this distance will close soon. My dad is a serious, stern guy but he has a playful side that can be activated too…I’m happy to say that I’m second to my mom in activating Mr. Playful, though I can activate Mr. Stern just as quickly lol! He took some vacation from work this week so it’s also been great to have him around.
- My sister’s also an August baby! If I think six hours is far then my sister in Nigeria is truly far away! Unlike my dad who’s by himself, she has her husband with her to make her day special and he sure did (they did birthday things, then went to the beach for another event). It was her first birthday as a married woman so celebrating with a spouse is new.
- This past Sunday my parents celebrated 37 years of marriage…what a milestone! Their marriage is real and they don’t pretend to be perfect people who never fight, which I appreciate because it’s prepared me for what marriage is like. I hope they get to celebrate 37 more years of marriage in good health…if you think of it, please pray for this for them too.
What are you thankful for?
