Tired but thankful

It’s been a long week and I am very tired (I’m going to blame it on being in my thirties). I didn’t have a chance this week to share more pictures from my last Nigeria trip or continue my series on Traveling to Nigeria or Supporting family.

In a normal week, I spend some time reflecting on what I am thankful for but this week, I’m just doing this now, so only the following comes to mind:

  • being able to fall into a deep sleep within a minute. I’m very tired so this is a wonderful gift. Waking up isn’t easy though!
  • safety and protection. Over the last couple of weeks I have had a number of tradesmen in my house working to fix various things and I am thankful that I never had to worry about my safety while they were here.
  • free local papers that allow me to keep up to date with what is going on in the world.
  • a boss who cares. She may not be able to solve my every problem but I do feel like she cares about me as a person, and that means something me.

I know, shortest entry ever, especially when there are other things like the relatively mild weather we’ve been having to be thankful for but one more yawn from me and I’ll probably swallow my laptop.

Thank you all for sharing what you’re thankful for on the last entry. I enjoyed reading it.

  1. I love your thankful posts! just realizing i take so many little things for granted, have to start being thankful for everything from now on!

  2. I had a boss once who visited the psychiatrist every week. Why? He had Insomnia. He used to act crazy sometimes and he had a bad temper.

Until I met him, I had no idea that sleep disorders often degenerated into mental problems.

I am so thankful for sleep!

It's a gift I really appreciate; trust me!

Thanks girl! When you start focusing on what you are thankful for I think it helps keep stress levels down (doesn't mean I don't get stressed or angry still though!).

Wow…that is an extreme situation, but you're right that lack of sleep can have some very unpleasant results. I'm glad that you're able to sleep soundly too!

Wow! Lagos is really becoming the city to be envied with all the beautification and focus on improving life for its citizens. Thanks for the link to your blog.

lol! I barely had the strength to post the entry so I am thankful that you were able to find the strength to comment! We can laugh about it but when you think about it, there are some who are so weakened by illness that even closing their eyes seems like too much work. Thank God for His mercies, indeed.

You sound like a very joyful person and that is wonderful! I bet you are a blessing to those around you.

    Have a great weekened too!

Hugs to you, friend! I slept nearly hours last night and I am feeling very well rested. Also, I was out of my iron pills so I have some now. I think that'll help too!
